The dark border on this painting is experimental, something that I’ve done only a few times, and will likely try again. This scene is from an alley in the heart of downtown Crested Butte Colorado. Amidst the playful gathering of buildings, I tried to really push the visual banter between complementary colors by allowing purples, blues and reds to peek out from between the larger areas of color.
