| Time Tested- I often wonder what life was like in Crested Butte during the later part of the nineteenth century. It is known that coal mining was king. Certainly, these old buildings bore witness to those days. Though weathered and shaken, the hearty structures in this painting are a testament to the sturdy construction and time-tested fortitude of their design. Although I generally buy my canvases pre-stretched, it is a worthwhile process for any artist who is interested in oil painting to learn how to stretch his or her own canvas. It provides a greater appreciation for the materials and incorporates the canvas material into the entire creative process. | ||
