| Stormy Skies- The weather can change quickly and often throughout the course of a day in Crested Butte. When I first came across this brightly colored building, the sun was shining. Within minutes, clouds swept across the sky casting shadows and changing the landscape into a sea of dramatic light. I was eventually chased beneath the shelter of some cottonwood trees as a brief, yet fierce rain shower drenched the town. Although there is a wide variety of surfaces that can be used for oil painting, I prefer using a stretched canvas. I've always enjoyed the action of the surface- my brush plays off the slight give of the canvas material creating a kinetic environment. The canvas is also textured. This provides good adhesion of the pigments. | ||
