Rouen (France)- This sight was not far from the youth hostel where I spent the night during my short visit to this city. Joan of Arc spent her final days in Rouen before her grizzly execution. The preservation of old cobblestone roads and ancient architecture allowed my imagination to conjure up images of days long since past.
The contrast between the various tones of ink and the white paper clarifies line, shape and form in each of my pen and ink drawings. The layering of the inks themselves creates depth and helps to define the principles of one and two point perspective.
