Okay, I know…what in the world is this? Believe it or not, it is a strange and very beautiful wildflower know as Prairie Smoke! While the flower is lovely enough itself, what you see here is what happens once it goes to seed. This painting is characterized by thick robust brush and palette knife work that has been carved into with a thin brush to describe the wispy, smoke like tendrils that give this flower it’s name.
