Freed Fine Art
Old Friends- If you hadn’t guessed it, the old friends in this painting are the barrel and the building. I was struck by the idea that the two had probably endured many harsh winters and warm summers together. I also found the peeling white paint on the front of the building to be an exciting exercise in contrasting surfaces.
The oil driven pigments of oil paints produce a wide range of rich and velvety colors for the artist to create with. The stretched canvas upon which the paints are applied allows for a very effective and sometimes textured appearance in the final piece of art.
