Oil Painting on canvas has been my preferred method of self-expression for nearly thirty years. Though I've tried my hand at acrylics, watercolors and gouche I've concluded that for me they simply lack the depth and passion of oil paints. The consistency of oil paints can be easily manipulated to produce a range of applications while providing the artist ample work time before the oily pigments begin to dry. The characteristics of oil paints allow for unmatched flexibility and complexity that play nicely off the lively surface of a stretched canvas. My oil painting technique of layering visible brush strokes is the product of a variety of influences ranging from the post-impressionistic brush strokes of Vincent VanGogh to the unusual Surrealist images of Salvador Dali.
