| Crested Butte Mountain- Many years ago, this dramatic peak stood watch as the valley below played host to Ute Indians who used the land for hunting grounds during the summer season. Today, the town at its base bears the same name. Though I've hiked to the summit (Elevation 12,172 Feet) and stood in awe as the valley floor has unfolded beneath my feet, I've always had a greater appreciation for its striking beauty as seen from below its daunting peak and gothic face. Oil painting is a method of expression that thrives on rich and vibrant colors. History tells the story of the long lasting durability of oil paints. The thick nature of oil paints can be manipulated to create a wide variety visual effects that range from translucent to opaque.
