| Downtown (Holland)- This is typical view of the streets of Amsterdam. I’d spent the afternoon at The VanGogh Museum and was on my way back to my youth Hostel when this scene caught my eye. Trams were a fun, efficient and inexpensive means of travel. However, walking was easily my preferred mode of transportation- Busy cobble stoned streets inevitably gave way to quiet walkways and age old stone bridges that spanned the many waterways of Amsterdam. The white paper sets off the varied tones of ink in each drawing. The sepia colored ink is applied first as an under drawing. The black ink is applied on top to finish and define the forms. The resulting effect is one of depth that accentuates the perspective elements of each drawing. | ||
