This wintery backcountry landscape represents a historic bike ride for me. I love mountain biking, but the trails I ride during the warm season near my home town of Crested Butte Colorado typically become inaccessible by late October. At best, I can sometimes squeeze in one last ride during the month of November. This past year, my bike riding season was extended by warmer than usual weather. The painting you see here was inspired by a photograph recorded during a bike ride on the Lower Loop during the second week of December!
